Fear Free Services
All of our service staff are Fear-Free Certified. Animals are at their best when they feel at ease. Fear Free offers science-based, behaviour-led strategies to prevent and reduce fear, anxiety, and stress for the pets in our care.
Our Fear Free Philosophy
We take our Fear Free practices very seriously, with your dog’s comfort, safety, and emotional wellbeing always coming first. It’s very important to us that grooming remains a positive experience every time your dog returns to us.
Grooming can be particularly challenging when matting or heightened stress is involved. For pups who have had these challenges in the past, we will require that clients maintain a consistent grooming schedule. Regular maintenance helps prevent matting, shorten appointment times, and allow us to keep each visit calm, manageable, and as low-stress as possible.
We’re always happy to chat through scheduling options, maintenance recommendations, or any questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you and your pup in any way we can.

Fear Free Introductory Services
Puppy Intro (no hair cut)
Is it your pup’s first visit? We’ll ease them into the grooming process with a gentle bath & dry. If temperament allows, nail clipping & quick trimming will be completed. This is an introductory service, and these visits are designed to be gentle and gradual introductions to grooming in a Fear Free environment. Some pups may need 2-3 Puppy Intros before they’re ready for a full haircut or style. Our team will guide you on what’s next at the end of your first appointment.
For first-time puppies, 3 months to 6 months of age.

FEAR FREE POLICY: We take our Fear Free practice very seriously. If your dog becomes distressed at any point during the groom, we may pause, slow things down, or, in some cases, stop the session entirely to prioritize their comfort and safety.

Intro Session (for anxious dogs)
Just like a Puppy Intros but for Adult Dogs. We’ll ease them into the new environment with a gentle bath & dry. If temperament allows, nail clipping & quick trimming will be completed. This is an introductory service, and these visits are designed to be gentle and gradual introductions to grooming in a Fear Free environment. Some dogs may need 2-3 Intro Sessions before they’re ready for a full haircut or style. Our team will guide you on what’s next at the end of your first appointment.
For anxious dogs, over 6 months of age.

Full Service Grooming

Bath & Blow-Dry
(+ Optional Outline Trim)
Booking the correct service ensures we can allow the proper time for your dog’s groom and provide the best possible experience.
Pup needs a good clean-up, and perhaps a bit of scissor trimming, but doesn’t require a full body cut/shave? Includes bath, towel-dry or blow-dry, brush-out/de-shed, nail trim & ear cleaning (if temperament allows). Option to add-on an Outline Trim (scissor trimming of feet, face, chest, bum, legs, and undercarriage).

PLEASE NOTE: This service is intended for smooth/short-haired, feathered and double-coated dogs who do not require a full body cut or shave (i.e. Labs, German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Springer Spaniels, etc). Only minor scissor tidying (such as feet, feathers, or outline work) can be accommodated with this service. If your dog requires full body cutting or shaving, please select and book a Full Cut & Style groom instead.

Full Cut & Style
If your dog requires a full body cut/shave all over, this is the service you’ll want to book. Includes bath, blow-dry/de-shed, nail clipping, ear cleaning (if temperament allows), and full body clip/shave with desired styling. Scissor trimming on feet, face and legs.

PLEASE NOTE: This service is intended for dogs who require full body cutting or shaving (i.e. Poodles and Poodle mixes/Doodles, Water Dogs, Bichons, Yorkies, etc). This appointment includes full body clipping and/or scissoring, breed-style or pet trims, and overall coat shaping. If your dog does not require body length removal and only needs minor outline trimming, please book a Bath & Blow Dry (+ Optional Outline Trim) service instead.

Hand Stripping
Hand-stripping, as a specialized method of coat care, is suited to wire-hair coated breeds like Border Terriers, and silky-coated gun dogs like Spaniels, involving manually pulling out the dead hair from the dog’s coat using a specialized stripping tool.
Stripping can help to maintain the natural texture and colour of the dog’s coat and stimulate healthy hair growth. It can also help to reduce shedding and prevent matting.

Alecia has been with us since our salon launched in 2023. She started out her career as a veterinary assistant, but switched to grooming in 2016, as her creative side called to her. Now she’s a pro, with several years of experience under her belt, and is a very valued member of the East Coast Dog team!

Davey joined the team as an Assistant Groomer in 2023. Under the guidance of our Senior Groomer, Alecia, he quickly graduated to the position of Junior Groomer, and is now, after a lot of hard work, offering Full Grooming Services! Before Davey decided to make the switch to grooming, he made a career working with dogs, through daycare and professional dog sitting.
