Part Time Groomer
Job Description: The Groomer for the East Coast Dog Shop & Grooming Co. is a skilled, compassionate professional, responsible for providing high-quality grooming services with care and consistency. They deliver exceptional service and support to both pets and their owners, build lasting client relationships, and help maintain the positive reputation of East Coast Dog. Above all, they treat every dog with patience, kindness, and respect.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of professionalism & customer service
- Render full grooming services offered: puppy & intro grooms, bath & tidy grooms, full cut & style grooms
- Safely & humanely de-matting and detangling hair as required
- Bathing, shampooing, conditioning & drying pets
- Trimming pets’ nails, brushing teeth, and cleaning ears
- Grooming and styling pets according to owners’ instructions and standard grooming styles
- Accommodating, to the best of your ability, special requests that pet owners may have
- Identifying health issues in pets, such as ear infections, skin conditions, or tooth decay, and informing pet owners of these observations
- Submit daily grooming notes & photos
- Ensuring that all pets are safe and that Fear Free practices are always used during the grooming process
- Routinely cleaning work areas
- Recommending suitable products to pet owners
- Recommending maintenance schedules & discussing Fear Free protocols with clients
- Checking out grooms and rebooking client appointments
Skills & Role Requirements:
- Grooming/Vet tech Certification, preferred but not required
- Proven professional grooming experience & skillset
- Sound understanding of animal behaviour & body language
- A commitment to treating all animals with compassion & care
- The ability to stand for long periods of time
- The ability to lift heavy pets and equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
Part Time Dog Walker
Job Description: The Dog Walker is a dependable, compassionate, and experienced animal care professional who provides attentive, safe, and engaging walks for East Coast Dog’s four-legged clients. They are passionate about canine wellbeing and demonstrate a calm, confident, and positive presence with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
Dog Walkers follow regular schedules, offer consistent companionship, and reinforce positive walking behaviours while ensuring the physical safety and emotional comfort of every dog in their care. They maintain professionalism at all times, communicate clearly with clients, and uphold East Coast Dog’s Fear Free commitment by using only positive reinforcement techniques.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of professionalism & customer service
- Render dog walking services offered: 10 minute potty breaks, 25 minute skill practice walks, 50 minute skill practice walks
- Walk dogs in various weather conditions and plan routes to ensure safety and enrichment.
- Ensure proper leash handling, use of walking gear, and avoid interaction with other animals and people.
- Use only Fear Free, force-free methods to support skill-building and emotional wellbeing.
- Conduct in-home consultations for new clients, providing clear and accurate service information.
- Share what’s working well in the dog’s walk routine and offer encouragement with no judgement – not training advice.
- Maintain a friendly, professional, and trustworthy relationship with all clients.
- Capture and upload original photos and videos during each service.
Skills & Role Requirements:
- R+ Training credentials not required, but highly valued
- Proven professional dog handling experience & skillset
- Sound understanding of animal behaviour & body language
- A commitment to treating all animals with compassion & care
- The ability to walk for long periods of time
- Excellent communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to safely & humanely handle & control dogs of various sizes and breeds
